Scriptures: Luke 12:31-32, Ephesians 1:3-11
Main Reflection: The sons of God
Purpose: Understand God’s glorious grace

  1. Son of Timaeus, Bartimaeus (beggar): Timaeus means “honor,” and yet Bartimaeus was called a beggar, thus inherited the honor but lacked the true substance.
  2. Predestined us to be adopted as his sons: based on history, the church started at Pentecost. From the view of God’s plan, it was before the creation. The essence of life in us is the spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms and church is the place where all spiritual blessings in the heavenly realms are given by God.
  3. God has redemptive plans and steps so that we may be adopted as His sons. God also allows his sons to wonder in the desert and yet He gives grace.
  4. Earthly pursuits will fade with time (examples of athletes and movie stars). Heavenly pursuits will add richness because of increased presence of Jesus in our life and give to true substance as sons of God.
  5. Predestined us to know His mystery: some people came to believe in Jesus because of suffering in life. This grace is lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
  6. Mendelssohn created the sacred oratorios (Elijah and St. Paul) which became the great music of the world. He created these after becoming a Christian to give praise to God’s glorious grace.
  7. Predestined to be heirs in Him: coming together is not unity. Unity is the unity in truth. Attend the adult Sunday school at the church and the seminary to be built up in truth.
  8. Paul knew whom he believed: grow in the grace and knowledge of our Savior Jesus Christ.
