Scriptures: James 5:17, 1Kings 17:8-11, Exodus 2:12, 3:2-4, 10, Romans 7:15-20, Isaiah 59:1-2

Main Reflection: Declares the Lord

Purpose: Obedience brings blessings

  1. Faithful: faith + Word (truth)
  2. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed to have Word of God come to him. What he could do, you and I can also do. The only difference is that Elijah shut off his feelings to do what God wanted him to do.
  3. “The word of the Lord came to him” (1Kings 17:8): not the word of pastor, wife or some other person, but of the Lord. So you must be filled with the Holy Spirit and let the word of the Lord come to you.
  4. God wanted Elijah to wait at the Kerith Ravine to train him to wait for the word of Lord.
  5. Moses at the start did things by flesh (killing an Egyptian) but at the end God appeared in the bush where he received the word of God and did God’s work.
  6. In 1Kings 17, what Elijah said to the widow and did defied logic. Yet he dared to say and eat because this was declared by the Lord.
  7. We need to change our mentality: change “I want” to “God desires.”
  8. Your prayers may not be answered immediately by God, but you must pay the price and time.
  9. If you want to be a successful man, you must first confess and secondly not to judge others.
