Chinese Christian Fellowship Club by Mountaineers of Mt. SAC
Bible passages, outreach, fellowship, song, and music are all elements that the Chinese Christian Fellowship club focuses on every Tuesday and Wednesday. Child Development major Rose Ye, 23, is one of the founders of the club that started three years ago…
Ye said finding Jesus was the most important thing for her.
“Jesus is the source of our lives and gives us direction and reasons why we do [things],” Ye said.
The purpose of the club is to promote fellowship of Christian students who have an interest in the Chinese culture and language, and to encourage, provide valuable information and positive experiences.
“We outreach to new believers and also to put the good news to the Chinese people,” Ye added.
Joyce Liang, 23, Business Marketing major, and member of the club said, “Hopefully, God can enrich all the people to understand [the good news].” Liang also plays guitar and piano during meetings to bring people together.
“I just feel happy doing something for God,” Liang said.
Previously, the club has collaborated with Campus Crusade for Christ, another Christian club at Mt. SAC, to gather and study the bible. The group also went to Big Bear for a retreat at Snow Creek Park.
Meetings usually last up to an hour. The Chinese Christian Fellowship club hands out Bible passages to members and they study the passages. Afterwards, the group discusses responses to the passages.
“We study the bible in depth and it takes time,” Ye said. “I read the bible every night and it gives me joy and fulfillment.”Meetings take place in building 66, room 246 on Tuesdays at 2:30-3:30 p.m. Tuesday’s meetings focus on Chinese speakers and believers. There are also meetings on Wednesdays in building 15, room five at 2:30-3:30 p.m. Wednesday meetings are open to all believers, anyone interested in learning about Christianity and it is also an opportunity for people to learn more about the bible in depth.
