Where we learn of Ronnie’s fear of cockroaches and unwashed blenders…

我們在Ronny被蟑螂驚嚇，以及一只骯髒的攪拌器度過了這一天…

Today we (the girls) woke up to the bright light of Malaysia’s sun shining through the windows of our room. The time was around 7:45AM as we started getting up to use the restroom and shower our hair. We’d gone to bed late and tired the night before, from the exhaustive flight as well as a long day getting used to the sun and heat of Malaysia.

今天早上7:45，女生們便伴隨著早晨的太陽起床了，各自開始盥洗。我們也開始從長途的飛行中恢復體力，以及適應馬來西亞的高溫。

For the guys, it was a slightly different story. Jonathan woke up at 4:30, unable to sleep. Ocean woke up at 5 and started to set up his portable workstation, trying to get wireless internet working. (currently, he’s insisting we find a way to get local wireless access. so far, all attempts have failed.) Ocean explained that he was suppose to teach sunday school in the main sancturary the sunday he returns to the US, which was why he was working so hard. Ronnie, forced awake by Ocean’s non-stop pen and mouse clicking, unhappily got up and complained for Ocean to go back to sleep. Ronnie tried but was unable to sleep for long, getting up at 5:45 after being awoken by Jonathan and Ocean’s whispers, so he got up and started practicing his guitar for worship. After spending some time trying to help Ocean get internet, they got ready and went to morning prayer.

另外一方面，男生又是不一樣的故事。Jonathan 4:30就因為睡不著，只好起床。Ocean5:00也起床，然後他開始架設移動工作站，希望能有無線網路，與美國聯繫就簡單了，但是到目前為止，全部方法都失敗。（譯者：那這篇怎麼打的？網咖？）因著Ocean 回美國以後，要在大堂教主日學，所以他非常努力的在準備。ROnnie  被Ocean 的滑鼠鍵盤敲擊聲炒醒，雖然他不高興的起來抗議，但是仍然睡不安穩。5:45 又被其它人講話聲炒醒，可憐的他只好起床練習吉他。

After finishing up the morning prayer group and bible study, we all piled into the church’s white van with Pastor and our driver Timothy to a local Indian Curry restaurant. The food was delicious and everyone ate quickly, tearing apart their naan and baked flatbread with the complimentary curry and meats that were ordered. All of us also tried their local tea with fresh milk. (It really tasted different, the milk was very fresh with a slight after taste, nothing like that wussy 2% stuff at home in the US).

在早晨讀經、禱告以後，我們與牧師坐上白色的箱型車，然後開往當地的印度咖哩餐廳。那邊的食物非常的好吃，大家分著一塊大圓盤狀烤餅以及麵包沾著伴隨的咖哩。我們每一個人也嘗試了鮮奶加茶，那邊的鮮奶與美國的完全不一樣，真的會讓我們齒唇留香，香濃可口的牛奶絕不是美國2%牛奶可比擬的。

“It was very good! (Curry) It makes me want to eat naan and curry all the time!” 

咖哩與烤餅實在是太美味了，即使要我每餐吃同樣東西，我都心甘情願。 

Afterwards we headed back to church for a grueling session of worship practice. After some initial problems with songs and language differences, we got all our songs down. (We also learned that Jonathan and Anna make a nice duet when they manage to get each other on key). After a tiring practice, we ate KFC a la Malaysian style thanks to a recommendation from our own church’s Kwok.

結束這一餐後，我們返回教會。接著我們開始練習敬拜。排除一些歌、歌詞語言的問題，我們也非常感謝Jonathan 與Anna 他們管理了二重唱，讓每個人都可以合拍。之後，我們在教會弟兄Kwok的介紹下，去吃KFC。

喔～～！你們去馬來西亞，甚麼都可以不吃，但是一定要吃KFC，那邊的雞不知道怎麼養的，吃起來就是不一樣，讚！   –Kwok

“It was alright. It was not better than the US’ KFC. I’d rather have the US’ KFC than Malaysia.”-Ronnie

恩，還可以啦，沒有比美國的好，我還是喜歡吃美國的KFC — Ronnie

“It wasn’t as good as I thought it would be but it was filling”-Jenny

 This goes to show that the US still hasn’t lost its ability to make deep fried extra oily chicken. Ocean still has hope though and claims it’s not accurate to grade its taste because it had already cooled by the time we ate.

從這裡看到，美國仍尚未失去速食的龍頭寶座。

After eating our late lunch, we traveled 30 minutes to the golf resort that the church had rented an area from for our Saturday activities. It was interesting to see the open area of land for us to use since it was basically a family picnic area, 2 large pools (including one huge olympic size one) and the balcony of the resort. We have lots of plans for Saturday’s youth there, including t-shirt tie-dying, ice cream making, and group competitions.

之後，我們坐車30分鐘，到達高爾夫休閒渡假所，這是教會為我們星期六的活動所租借的場地。當我們看見一塊那麼大的土地供我們使用，不禁莞爾一笑。裡面有家庭野餐的地方，以及兩個游泳池，包括一座奧林匹克標準尺寸游泳池還有休閒的陽台。所以我們有許多計畫，包括T-shirt 跟領帶染色、製作冰淇淋，以及團體競賽。

The weather here is very very hot. Ocean guessed it to be at least 37 degrees, perhaps more. By the time we were in the van and driving down the hills and asian style traffic, I was nauseous and dizzy. Perhaps I should’ve drank more water? Ronnie, turned out to be terrified at the sight of cockroaches, nearly jumping out of his seat when I noticed a cockroach climbing up the side of his window. Jenny quite bravely volunteered to kill the insect with some kleenex. Anyways, we made the decision to go to Jusco, the local equivalent of a cross between a Walmart and the mall. A huge 3 story supermarket store dominated the large building, with a section opening up to smaller stores and stands on the other side as well as a food court. The place was not overpacked, probably since it was a weekday. We were all thirsty and immediatly went in and bought drinks. After going shopping for some things my mom asked me to buy, we went wandering the areas for interesting things to see. We saw many stands and interesting stores.

這邊的天氣非常炎熱，Ocean 估計應該有攝氏37度（約華氏98.6度），由於悶熱的空氣，彎曲的山路，加上亞洲形式危險的交通，讓我們頭暈、不舒服。或許我不應該喝那麼多水。這時有一隻蟑螂緩慢爬到Ronnie旁邊的窗戶上，Ronnie被這突如其來的的生物驚嚇，差點要跳車。Jenny自告奮勇用紙巾解決這些昆蟲。而我們這趟的行程是到Jusco，一個介於Walmart 以及Mall大小的購物商場。三家巨大的商場佔據了整間建築物。中間夾雜一些小商店以及賣食物的地方。人還不算多，也許不是週末的緣故吧。我們都非常的渴，每個人都迫不及待要買些飲料。之後買了一些我母親吩咐我要帶給他的東西以後，我們就在這邊閒逛，原來這邊有許多有趣的小商店。

Ocean noted that when we purchased items at the food court, we had to go to pay at a central cashier before picking up our foods. The reason was because they were afraid that the individual workers would steal money and this way they could prevent theft amongst their employees.

Ocean 告訴我們，當我們在買食物時，要到中間先付錢，然後才領食物。原因是他們害怕自己員工會偷錢，以及可以準確計算每一家的銷售量。

As we headed back to meet up with Ocean at the food court. We stopped at a stand to buy blended drinks. Ronnie’s face turned a lovely shade of melon green when he saw that the server didn’t wash out the blender between drinks. Who knows how many other drinks throughout the day had been blended in that tiny hand blender? His blue champagne blend went directly into the trash after we rode the escalator down.

當我們要回去集合時，我們在途中想買些飲料。但是Ronnie的臉竟變為慘綠，因為他看見服務生並沒有清洗攪拌器。沒人知道有多少人的飲料經過那一個攪拌器，Ronnie的藍色香檳也直接進入了垃圾桶。

Tonight, Pastor Elizabeth is holding a sharing about Music and Worship. We are back at the church were we are staying, Ronnie sitting on the floor practicing worship songs with Jenny sorting music, Ocean sitting on the side typing on his laptop. Jael, Anna, Jonathan are outside helping the local children teachers lead the kids in activities in the next room. Later tonight we will be practicing worship and discussing plans for our elective events on Saturday. Hopefully it won’t be as hot this saturday. (Sadly the Pastor and other locals have informed us that Malaysia’s weather is the same, 365 days of the year. Sadness D:)

今晚，師母與我們分享音樂及敬拜。之後我們回到休息地方，Ronnie坐在地上持續練習吉他以及Jenny整理著音樂，Ocean 坐在旁邊打著他的電腦。Jael、Anna、Jonathan 在外面幫助當地老師帶領兒童。之後我們又會在一次練習敬拜，以及研討星期六的活動規劃。希望星期六當天不要太熱，可惜的是牧師以及當地的人說馬來西亞365天都那麼熱。
